5 Tips to Find an Awesome Aupair
Updated: Dec 8, 2021
Dear Aupair Match UK: Thank You For Giving Me An Awesome Aupair Experience.
Hi Emily, I was thrilled to receive your email, I am happy you enjoyed a blissful relationship with your aupair. I am even happier she has completed her master’s degree and is moving to Japan to resume a new job. In your message, you showered your aupair with praises and highlighted 5 tips for host families to find an awesome aupair, just like you found Amenan. Thank you for permitting me to publish your message on our blog.

MY AWESOME AUPAIR EXPERIENCE
Aupair Match UK gave me the best childcare experience ever and made being a working mum fun. Aupairs and host families can connect on Aupair Match UK by themselves, quickly, directly and free of charge. Host families from the UK have the opportunity to choose from a worldwide selection of aupairs and receive experienced support from their highly qualified staff.
It's the fact they understand what you need that makes them the best!
Our aupair was Amenan from Cote d'Ivoire and her childcare skills were fantastic. My home is made up of two working parents, a toddler and her 4 years old brother, it is very busy. Amenan was always calm in stressful situations whether it's handling our 4-year-old tantrum, or dealing with burnt baking, or helping us get ready to leave for work in the morning. We rarely needed to tell her what to do around the house as she had a can-do attitude and gets on with it.
She became an important member of our family and we will miss her smiling face and cheerful ways as she heads off on the rest of her adventure. However, she will always be welcomed back to our home here in the UK whenever she wishes to visit.

5 TIPS TO FIND AN AWESOME AUPAIR
In hopes that the following tips will prove helpful to you as you manage your family's next aupair stay.
1. Discuss your cultural differences
Discussing the differences in your country’s culture is the most important thing, especially the language and food. You should help your aupair learn the English language and customs while she teaches you how things work in her own part of the world. It could be an interesting learning point for you both and it promotes bonding and cultural exchange.
2. Give your aupair some privacy
A private room is essential for the aupair. During this time she can withdraw from the family and enjoy some peace, take care of her own self or even study.
3. Negotiate duties and length of stay
Finding a way to balance your family life and the life of your aupair is essential, so explain the duties before everything. Your partnership needs to work well in order to satisfy each other's varying needs. Your aupair should also inform you how long they are willing to live with you.
4. Agree on a fair amount of pocket money
Your aupair should also receive pocket money that is tailored to your individual needs. Possibly you need more help, more days per week, or fewer days per week. She should be compensated for babysitting in the evenings or be given a free day if she does that also.
5. Have a lot of conversations
Your aupair should be in touch with you frequently if you want things to run smoothly. While the aupair is doing her best to take care of your children, she doesn't have the same experience as you as a parent. Give your aupair your trust when she joins your family. It is after all your aupair who is taking care of the things you hold most dear, your children.
Having a live-in caregiver for my children was a better alternative to daycare because it was more economical and afforded me my working mom lifestyle with ease.

Dear Emily, thank sharing your awesome aupair experience with us.
Finally, to my friends who are international students from all over the world preparing to study in the UK, UCAS and GOV.UK will be helpful to your research to become an aupair in the UK.
